It is with the saddest regret that I have to report the passing of my dearest friend and one of the most popular members of the GFS. Alan Kershaw who I have known for most of my life has finally lost his valiant battle with serious illness and passed away late on Tuesday evening November 17th 2015.
Alan only joined the GFS in June 2011 but in that short space of time he has become so familiar and so loved both at the Blackpool conventions and at various branches of the GFS and the Yorkshire Ukulele Circle. As a member of our Society, Alan was a shining example of all that is best about what we do. He would work quietly and without fuss at any job that needed doing both in Blackpool and within the committee room and was forever approachable to young and old no matter who they might be.
On behalf of the committee and members of The George Formby Society I offer my deepest felt sympathies to Christine, Lee and Ellen and their families.
