Desmond always played George Formby records on his show and also nobly supported our very own Andy Eastwood and in fact Desmond played Andy’s version of “Leaning On A Lamp Post” on his very last show He retired from Radio 2 in October 2016. Sadly, Desmond passed away on 1st February 2017. George Formby fans everywhere have lost a good friend. A top class broadcaster who knew (like George Formby) what the people wanted to hear, he will be very much missed.

A 25 minute recording of Zip Goes A Million which was first broadcast on Henry Hall’s Guest Night probably in 1951.
In 1949 George and Beryl Formby toured Canada and appeared on radio station CKXL Calgary. This is the first part of a recordIng they they made when interviewed by Norm Pringle.
