George Formby’s Instruments
After George's death in 1961, an auction was held at Beryldene, Lytham St - Annes where a number of his instruments were sold. Several were purchased by Bill Logan, the first President of the George Formby Society. Seen below is Dennis Taylor, current President of the GFS holding George's pre-war Abbott 'Monarch' made for George by Jack Abbott Sr. Also, a Gibson Concert and two 'Baby' Gibsons (UB3) which are part of the Bill Logan Collection- The Gibson Concert and One of the 'Baby' Gibsons have been sold to members of the GFS. Several of George's instruments which were on show at the Warrington Museum Exhibition in 1991 (30th Anniversary Year). Included is George's LUDWIG sold at auction in 1989 for £2700 and purchased two weeks later by a GFS member for £3500.
