The George Formby Society received some marvellous media exposure on Saturday 19 th February 2005 when Vice President of the Society, Peter Pollard was invited to chat on BBC Radio Two with Dermot O’Leary. The show goes out nationwide and is also broadcast throughout the world via the internet. Dermot is a very popular media figure in the UK and his show attracts a wide audience.

Dermot and his producer were initially drawn to a feature on George Formby when they found the George Formby Society website of which they were very complimentary. Dermot appeared to have some genuine knowledge of George and conducted the interview in a light hearted but respectful manner (all too often media people just want to create the idea that George Formby in life acted like one of his film characters).

Since the interview the website has received numerous compliments and some interest in joining the George Formby Society from various listeners.
