OUR ZOOMERS

As the song goes-“zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom high and low. There’s no doubt that with the formations of the ZOOMERS, during these “low times” we’ve been HITTING THE HIGH SPOTS. Many of us have zoomed in over 300 times and the experience has to be seen to be believed. We’re like a family that shares each other’s joys and each other’s sorrows, and the camaraderie, banter and friendship has been wonderful-discussing everything from cold showers to the attractions that Batley has to offer-in other words, we SHARE AND SHARE ALIKE. We COUNT OUR BLESSINGS that we’ve enjoyed seeing and speaking to members that we’ve never met before, particularly those from overseas. The Zoomers will go down in Formby folklore and be part of George’s story, even though it is more than sixty years since he passed away. During his career, George gave pleasure to those who were suffering through adversity because of the 1930’s Depression and also The Second Worl`d War. I’m sure that he would have approved that through modern technology, we’ve been able to keep our spirits up by singing his songs during the effects of today’s fight against the virus. We’re sure that we speak on behalf of fellow Zoomers when we say that we will be forever grateful to the hosts-apostles Simon, Peter and Andrew and Matthew, the only form of SPAM that we want to receive. Perhaps most of all, our thanks go to Suzanne who originally had the wonderful idea of having Zoom sessions. None of us expected that, due to matters out of our control, we would be clocking up 365 consecutive evenings and counting. So as we continue to meet, we SMILE ALL THE TIME. Of course, there is still time to be part of us and in the words of the Buddy Holly song OH BOY-“you don’t know what you’ve been missing”. Pam and Jon Baddeley
