It’s A Funny Business with Mike Craig
First heard on BBC Radio Two on 21 October 1987, Billy was celebrating 50 years in show business and Mike Craig chatted with Billy about Billy’s long and illustrious career. Billy is well documented on this website both here and he is featured in a book that Roy Hudd produced on this page. Billy played and entertained at many GFS conventions and other meetings through the years and was also granted Honorary Membership. He was very popular at the Blackpool conventions and we once spent a wonderful Sunday afternoon at The Winter Gardens when John Walley interviewed Billy. You could have heard a pin drop! Mike Craig was a multi talented man who was a script writer and was responsible for writing or producing more than 1200 shows for radio and television including shows for Ken Dodd,Roy Castle, Harry Worth, Al Read, Morecambe & Wise, Jimmy Tarbuck and many others. He was also a very funny man to listen to and did lots of humorous talks to many different organisations and on cruises. Mike had another claim to fame in that he was born in my home town of Batley! Sadly both these talents have passed away. Mike in October 2010 and Billy in 2004. PP - 12/12/2022
