prism cards
Set was free gift with Friday Show video
In 1993 the Prism Leisure group in partnership with Alan Randall, issued a video recording of The Friday Show and to encourage sales they commissioned a set George Formby themed collecting cards which were given away with the video. The cards touched on many aspects of George’s life and many people will not be aware of them or may not have seen them before. Card number 30 refers to a show about Formby that Alan Randall produced and starred in; it toured the UK and was quite well received. The video to purists was a slight disappointment in that the director had cut the opening titles to the show and instead had replaced them with an introduction by Alan Randall. Why they couldn’t have included Alan’s opening words and then the complete show is a mystery. But it was still great thrill to finally get a decent copy of this most famous of all George Formby’s TV appearances. View the full collection on the button.
