On Saturday 18th October, the Coleshill branch of the GFS will meet for its opening night at the Coleshill Community Centre, the first new GFS branch opened for quite some time. The branch has two great organisers in Assistant Secretary Andrew Higham and master luthier Tom Cutler. The venue is well-placed, with easy access due to it being just off Junction 6 of the M42. It strengthens the Formby scene in the Midlands with members of the ever popular Stourbridge branch meeting, along with some from the East Midlands. The evening is planned to be a relaxed event with no pressure to perform and a few thrashes along the way. Organiser Tom Cutler has invested in a digital projector so chord sheets for songs can be shown on the wall along with some footage of George playing. All in all, a great success story for the GFS and a sign of an expanding Society. Be there or be square! The new branch has also formed a Facebook group that can be accessed at the link. Meetings will take place each month on the third Saturday evening commencing at 19:00 to 22:30. The address of the venue is Coleshill Community Centre, 2 Temple Way, Coleshill, Birmingham B46 1HH Words by Charlie Evered
