Treading the same stage as George did
A one-day convention will be held at Morecambe's famous Winter Gardens on Saturday July 27th 2013. This event will be open to the general public and we would like to see a strong contingent of our membership at this event. The GFS Shop will also be in attendance and we are all looking forward to a splendid day out in this wonderful old theatre, treading the same stage as the one and only George Formby did. The doors will be open from 10am to 10pm and the event will be run just like the Blackpool conventions. Entry is free to all but there will be an opportunity to make a donation in support of the restoration of this famous old building Morecambe is a fine tourist destination with lots of sights to see (including the famous statue of Eric Morecambe). It lies on the beautiful MIorcambe Bay with the historic city of Lancaster nearby. It is also close to the Lake District National Park so why not come for the weekend? The famous old landmark is reputed to be haunted (as are many theatres in the UK) so you never know just who you might bump in to ? I understand that there will be a bar facility and possibly food will be available as well. This looks like it could be a very memorable GFS day so please support it. The two images of George Formby at Morecambe Beauty Competition were kindly given my GFS member John Bullivant.
