John on Channel 4
The November 26 edition of Collector's Lot on Channel Four featured George Formby and honorary and founder member of the Society, John Walley. The programme was based around John's collection of Formby memorabilia, aspects of George's life and John's wooden ukulele, the previous owner being George Formby himself and of course, this is the ukulele George used to sing "The Window Cleaner" in the film "Keep Your Seats Please". John gave a first class rendition of 'Cleaning Windows' on this unique instrument and spoke with interest, humour and obvious knowledge on his favourite subject. John has done great work for the Society for many years and certainly deserves the 'Honorary' title, he is probably the foremost authority on George Formby and the only disappointment about this featured item was that it should have lasted 30 minutes instead of 5. Well done John!
