NEW VENUE FROM JANUARY 2020

From January 2020 the Castleford branch of the GFS will have a new venue. They are moving from The Flarepath Club to the George V WMC. The night will still be the same second Wednesday in the month with the same start time of 7:30 pm. Andy Poppleton will still be the man who organises the whole thing and comperes in his unique, inimitable style. Surely worth attending just to listen to him as he introduces some of the many GFS players who travel far and wide for a Castleford GFS night.

CASTLEFORD A GOOD HOME FOR FORMBY

Castleford has always been a good home for George Formby, starting with the late, great "Tetley" Dave Parker at his pub, The Shoulder of Mutton, the atmosphere has always been second to none and when Dave sadly passed away and the pub closed, Andy Poppleton picked up the baton and started at the Flarepath Club and again we enjoyed great success, not only from the GFS members but also from the local Castleford people who enjoy the music and fun of George Formby. I look forward to my regular visit to Castleford and it is hoped that as well as the GFS members, the local people of Castleford will continue to support what is always a great night of music, fun and laughter.

MR POPPLETON WILL TAKE IT TO

NEW HEIGHTS

I feel sure that the magic that makes a Castleford night so special will easily transfer to the George V, it is the people and the music that creates the special atmosphere and we welcome all, through the doors of the new venue to continue what has always been one of the most popular GFS branches. In GFS Vice-President Andy Poppleton’s hands, the members, the people of Castleford and the George V itself will all rise to new heights at this new exciting venue.
