EVENTS IN SEPTEMBER

Throughout the first few weeks of September, I am trying to run events that would have taken place at our September Convention.  A beginner’s zoom meeting, a short video on how to set your ukulele banjo up and finally an E Convention during the actual convention weekend.

BEGINNERS CLASS

On Saturday 19th September I will be running a beginners class on Zoom. This class will replace the usual Beginners class which I run throughout the convention weekend. The group will have  20 places available so that I can work with everyone in attendance.  The class will start at 11 am and last approximately 40 minutes. If you wish to attend,  please confirm by email to Andrew_Poppleton@sky.com by the Monday 14th September (this is the correct date and not 07 September as stated in The Vellum, Autumn 2020). I will then send invites to the participants. Please note this will be run on a first- come first-served basis.

SETUP OF A BANJO-UKE

During our normal conventions, we have always run workshops beginners classes,  stagecraft etc. On the 12th September, I will post a short video on our Facebook site of how to set up a ukulele banjo. I hope this goes a little way to overcome the disappointment of the cancellation of the convention.

SEPTEMBER E-CONVENTION

During the weekend we will be running an E-Convention. This will be set up on our own GFS Facebook page where anyone who wishes can post a video of them playing one of George’s songs. The weekend is a few days off from the Battle of Britain Day 15th September. It is 80 years since the RAF battled over England and to commemorate this event I would like to ask if the players could dress up in their 1940’s clothes and costumes. Please keep your eyes open over the course of the weekend for further information on the GFS Facebook  page. Andy Poppleton GFS Vice-President 29 August 2020
