When playing at events or just in practice, many of our playing members these days prefer to use their tablets or even mobile phones instead of the now rapidly disappearing mini-discs from a few years ago. The best backing track player that I have seen is called Songer Pro and is available for all Android devices. The reason I have posted this page is that the application which was always available in the official Google Play Store is no longer there now owing to restrictions that Google placed on the app's creator, Alan Glave in his bid to continue to improve and update the app. Alan feels that the user (and the app) are better served if he makes it available from his website rather than the official Android source. To further simplify things, the app when available from Google had to be paid for but now, Alan has generously made the app available for free although he does (rightly) request that users may wish to make a donation to help him keep the application and the website supported properly. I have posted this page to make sure that the many users of the app and hopefully, new users, are aware of the changes that Alan has had to make and to know just where to go to get it. I have just downloaded and upgraded to the latest version (9.4.4) on my mobile phone and it is a simple process with just one screen from Google advising you about unsafe downloads to get past - I can confirm that Songer Pro is a totally safe download and installation was very easy.
