Summer Valentine, recently installed as Vice-President of the George Formby Society, has already confirmed the confidence shown by members when she was unanimously voted into the position at the recent Annual General Meeting during the September Blackpool convention. On the morning of 17 October 2025, Summer appeared live on BBC Radio Sheffield and chatted with presenter Kate Bottley for a priceless twelve minutes on air. The station, which boasts more than 150,000 listeners across the Sheffield area, may well give both the George Formby Society and the man himself a welcome boost in popularity. Summer has already shown that the Formby name continues to enjoy immense affection more than sixty-four years after the star passed away. Summer presented herself superbly. As one of the younger adult members of the GFS, she spoke confidently and with great assurance about the world of George Formby and the organisation that has so proudly supported his legacy for the past sixty-four years. There is little doubt that while this was Summer’s first radio interview representing the GFS, it certainly will not be her last!
