The archive of the George Formby Society contains many fascinating
items,Beryl’s E.N.S.A. uniform, for instance, and even her typewriter.
Some of the finest treasures may still rest in private collections, but the
written word survives in a wide variety of sources, including newspaper
clippings, magazines, theatre programmes and cinema trade journals from
years gone by.
Here, I present a selection of interesting written archives for George
Formby fans throughout the world to enjoy. Perhaps they will learn some-
thing new, and in doing so confirm to others just how successful George
Formby truly was in those far-off days.
